esgia.eu: who we are and how we work
esgia.eu answers the sustainability questionnaire your customer sent you, using data you already have. Not for sustainability departments — for the entrepreneur who received such a list on his desk and doesn't know where to start.
Why this platform exists
Large companies must report on their sustainability, and that obligation does not stop at their own door: to get their figures right they send questionnaires to their suppliers. Banks and insurers do the same. This way a list of dozens of questions ends up with a company of fifteen people that has never dealt with reporting before.
Two things make that unnecessarily difficult. First, almost no one knows that since March 2026 there is a limit to what can be asked. Second, the answers are usually already somewhere: on the energy bill, in the payroll administration, on the fuel receipts. We do those two things, in that order: first the limit, then the data.
How the answers are compiled
We automatically follow the official sources: the voluntary standard for non-listed SMEs, the reporting directive and its March 2026 amendment, and the established emission factors. Every week we check what is new and which topics it affects.
The texts are written with AI based on these sources, run through a technical check that blocks prohibited formulations, and then approved by a person before they go online. Nothing goes live automatically. Under each topic it says when it was last checked.
What we don't do
We do not provide legal advice and we do not provide sustainability advice. We do not conduct audits and we do not provide assurance, and we do not issue a mark of approval — that does not exist for these reports, not with us and not with anyone else. We also never say you can refuse a question unless we can point it out in the standard; then it says "not certain".
And we never state a figure we cannot trace. A CO₂ figure gets the factor set, the source and the reference date underneath from us, or it does not appear.
